New Horizons In Greece

My ocean home - a perfectly proportioned, elegant navy-blue hulled catamaran - the baby of the New Horizons fleet of three at just 45’ -  from the second you spot her this Lagoon 450 packs a powerful punch in terms of design - bouncy trampolines, a divine billowing sail (I am a sucker for a sail). Bearing all this in mind you could certainly become confused stepping aboard New Horizons...

Step into your cabin and you can be forgiven for thinking you are on a much larger motor yacht with all the luxury trimmings - think thick linen bath-robes and slippers, fluffy designer towels, and linens with thread-counts higher than the number of delicious chef-special cocktails I drunk on board. Your private dry-head hides numerous goodies in the cupboards locally produced by a boutique apothecary.

Let’s talk a little about where I was - as this was my first trip to the Saronic Islands of Greece and for me, it is the very best introduction to the sparkling Eastern European waters. For a first- time Greece charter I would say one of the best itineraries to choose - I started my trip in Naplflion directly after the yacht show but you can visit these islands perfectly from Athens - a convenient hub and a great city to explore for a pre or post-trip nights also.

Think culture and history, quaint villages where time stands still, some with no cars allowed, and old motorbikes and horse-drawn carriages crackle over the cobble-stones. Spetses had to be the highlight of my trip a charming sleepy town with beautiful oceanside fish restaurants and horse-drawn carriages to take you there. A great itinerary for history buffs - The Saronic Islands have a fascinating and complex history that will stay in your dreams long after you return home.

Another highlight of this itinerary must be the food - although I enjoyed that delicious restaurant fish and the not-to-be-missed Greek Salad in a local tabana where roasted lamb, Chloro cheese, Domatokeftedes should all be sampled, I didn’t need to eat out,  I could have just as easily dined on board for days. The food on all the New Horizon’s yachts is superb. Being in tandem charter with New Horizons 2 I was able to sample both chefs and really you don’t need to even think about leaving the yacht when you are treated to candle lit lobster on your yacht surrounded by the twinkling lights of the island.

Thank you so much for having me New Horizons - you really were an absolute treat, I will be back!
