THE CAPTAIN

Francois Gagnon is passionate about sailing and motor boats. Raised on the shore of the St. Lawrence River near Montreal, Quebec, he has been boating since the age of 6, learning to handle boats in all kinds of weather. Francois has 40 years experience in sailing and motor boating and has developed a keen sense of what to expect on the water. A licensed captain, he displays a cool, calm and collected attitude which inspires confidence and excels in boat handling, navigation, maintenance and equipment repairs. He is a skillful planner and organizer of cruising expeditions.

After graduating from McGill University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Francois founded a successful engineering firm specializing in industrial energy efficiency. Captain Gagnon is the father of two grown children with whom he has cruised extensively in the Bahamas aboard their sailboat PERLA and families are very welcome aboard BONAPARTE, indeed! He is also aa PADI Certified Diver, master swimmer and keen spearfisherman. Fresh lobster for dinner, anyone?!

THE MATE and CHEF

Annette St. Cyr was introduced to cruising when she met Francois 12 years ago. Shortly afterwards, she embarked on a year-long sailing trip along the US East Coast to the Bahamas during which time she developed excellent skills as mate, hostess and chef. Trained as an educator for children with special needs, she was tremendously successful in her field and appreciated by parents and children alike who followed her workshop sessions.

Annette enjoys catering to guest needs and is very attentive to details. She reads non-verbal communication very well which helps her and Francois - respond to your needs and desires before you even know about them!! Annette has a sixth sense for hospitality, always paying attention to your well-being. She enjoys cooking fabulous meals, especially desserts, which she whips up in no time, to everyones delight. By all means, bring your children. They will be delighted by all the ways Annette entertains them and makes them feel comfortable onboard BONAPARTE.

Francois and Annette are passionate about yachting. They want to share their passion with you by creating an atmosphere conducive to enchantment, peace, pleasure and contentment. We are a Captain and Mate couple who enjoy creating a wonderful vacation experience on BONAPARTE just for you. If you want to learn about boating, we will teach you everything we know. If you just want to lounge and relax, we will make sure you get what you want. The yacht is yours for the period of your stay and we want to make everything as perfect as we can.

Whatever destination you choose, your stay aboard M/V Bonaparte will be memorable. Francois is an experienced skipper who likes adventure and fun. But he also runs a tight ship to ensure safety at all times! Annette is a gourmet cook whose menu is designed around classic dishes created from fresh ingredients and tailored to your taste. Let us know your preferences in advance and we will prepare your favourite meal. Bold flavours abound. From delicious appetizers to the freshest salads, inspired entrees to decadent desserts - our cuisine will delight you, your family and guests.

Rate Terms:

Inclusions and exclusion are not standardized across the different yachts, with each offering slightly different terms. Please contact us for a proposal that details the yacht’s availability and individual pricing based on the number of guests in your party, as well as the list of the inclusions and exclusions for that particular yacht.

This Yacht offers a “Plus Expenses” Rate:

Included are the Yacht and its onboard equipment as well as the Captain, Chef and Crew’s services.

Excluded are food and beverages, fuel for the yacht and its tender, any dockage, airport transfers costs, onshore excursions and tours, as well as any cruising permits, licenses and other charter related expenses. Crew gratuity, although optional is customary at 15% - 20% of the charter rate for the Caribbean and 10% - 15% for the Mediterranean.

Advanced Provisioning Allowance:
For "Plus Expenses" charters, yachts request an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is generally estimated at 20% - 25% of the base charter fee for sailing yachts (catamarans and monohulls) and at 30%-35% for motor yachts. The APA essentially creates a bank account for the Captain to purchase provisions, fuel, dockage, food, beverages, bar, and other consumables on the charterer's behalf. The Captain will keep all receipts and manage a running balance of the account, so that expenditures can be checked at any time. Any amount not used will be refunded at the end of the charter. If during the charter the costs have exceeded the collected APA, then additional funds will be required for the outstanding bills. All purchases are transparent and nothing is marked up. The APA is used purely for the charterer's provisions and charter-related expenses.

Please Note:
Our team endeavors to provide up to date and accurate information regarding each yacht in our listing, however some yachts reserve the right to make last minute changes to their availability and rates. With this in mind, please note that premium rates may be attached to certain destinations and dates, such as Christmas and New Years in the Caribbean or July and August in the Mediterranean. Kindly contact us for a proposal that details the yacht’s final rate and availability.
