NEW CREW FOR THE 2019/20 SEASON
Captain: Sarel Oosthuizen
Chef/First Mate: Isabel Sollberg

Sarel grew up on the coast of South Africa. After finishing school, he completed his RYA Yacht Masters Offshore Certification and began his life on the water sailing yachts from South Africa to New Zealand, the USA and elsewhere. Over the course of 3 years he completed 3 Indian ocean crossings, a Pacific and an Atlantic crossing.

Previously he ran term charters in the Grenadines. Cruising from Grenada north to St. Lucia. His wish has been to run term charters in the Virgin Islands where his goal is to share the enjoyment of a sailing experience in this beautiful landscape. He finally arrived in the Virgin Islands in July and ran a number of successful term charters at the end of the season.

As a captain his focus is the safety off all his guests, the crew, the environment and his vessel while offering an awesome, fun-loving experience.

Born and raised on the coast of Brazil in Rio de Janiero, her life has been filled with many occasions shared with her family and friends on boats. This is where her love and passion for the ocean and nature transpired. Having the ocean on one side and the rainforest that runs parallel to the coastline, she was immersed in nature and all the beauty and intrigue it had to offer.

After she completed he master’s degree research on sustainable agriculture, she worked 8 years on eco lodge farms developing food products with keen interest in cocoa and chocolate. She then decided to branch out and follow her desire to sail.

Isabel as just completed a season in the Adriatic and Mediterranean seas on charter and private sailing yachts and is now returning to the Caribbean for the 3rd time.

Cooking has developed naturally for her and now compliments her life on board, exploring local ingredients, researching culinary uses and organic producers in the places she visits through chartering.
She has more than 8000 miles on board private and charter yachts and has hosted more than 300 guests. She is always happy to provide meals made with love and care for her guests.

There is no better moment for her than when guests have just disembarked and are already missing their onboard experience.

How would you qualify skipper:
We absolutely loved Collin. He was so kind and went the extra mile for any requests we had. We traveled with 4 of our kids ages 23-28. He really did a great job making sure they had fun and oh did they!! Great Tropical drink maker!!! Very knowledgeable!

5

How would you qualify rest of the crew:
Corrine's cooking was amazing and she was so kind all the time. She even made Banana's Foster for the first time, our families favorite and she killed it!! Absolutely delicious. She always had that cup of coffee or tea ready to go each morning for each of us. We even got hungry one night after being out late and she made a late night snack! Seemed like everyone couldn't wait until the next meal. She also was the photographer of the trip. Taking some great photographs on her camera of the family. Loved the history of the islands and the pirate fun facts.

How would you qualify the yacht (comfort, features, general maintenance, etc):
We took a much smaller boat in 2012. This size boat was amazing. Beautiful and large for 6. The highlight was definitely the fly bridge salon. We loved the view and we enjoyed talking to the captain when we were cruising. We had a problem with the anchor half way through so we had to rely on mooring balls but we got lucky finding them so we were still able to stop at all the places we wanted to. We would have liked to sail more since we are sailors , but we certainly know nothing you can do when maintenance issues happen and you have to get to stops earlier. Wasn't a big deal for us. The headroom in the cabins was perfect. Something that was very important. The queen size bedroom was a little small but we had our daughter and son-in-law stay in it and they were fine. Master bedroom was roomy and plenty of storage. Loved having a grill for cooking. The mattresses were extremely comfortable. Temperature in the cabins was good. Great hatches on this boat to get the nice evening breeze instead of air conditioning.

How would you qualify the itinerary:
Collin and Corrine suggested the route and it was wonderful. We had been there in 2012 and we saw different places and some of the same so it was win-win for all of us.

5

How would you qualify the sports and leisure activities/equipment on board:
SO nice to have the paddle boards, water carpet and kayaks. Did not have these in 2012 and I felt these made a big difference especially when you are traveling with 23-28 year olds who are very active. The crew always had them ready for us to use!!

5

How would you qualify the food and drinks:
Food was amazing and Corrine was never offended if you could not eat it all. You never went hungry. She would get anything for you. At one point the kids wanted more Cheetos and at the next island she picked up Cheetos. So nice! There were always snacks if you needed something to eat . Collin was an excellent bartender. He stocked the cooler with all our requests and made great island drinks. Also, there were plenty of non-alcoholic drinks that some wanted. Collin would even make the island drinks with no alcohol if requested.

5

How would you qualify the entire experience of your trip:
A GREAT family trip we will never forget. We are so pleased with Collin and Corrine and we will miss them! They made it the best experience for our family. Everything was great from the booking to the last day of the trip.

How would you qualify skipper:
Collin was great, he took care of everything and was always ready to make sure we were having a good time. Very interesting background and we enjoyed his company. Mickey was the captain of the other boat and he was bonded well with my two teenage sons, they enjoyed having their own boat.

5

How would you qualify rest of the crew:
Corrine has endless energy and spoiled us rotten with food. I am happy to say I gained 6 pounds in a week because her food was so good.

4

How would you qualify the yacht (comfort, features, general maintenance, etc):
Aliwe was super comfortable and had all the toys. It motors well but doesn't sail very well, but we didn't really care.

5

How would you qualify the itinerary:
Collin & Corrine were very flexible and moved us along just enough so that we covered a lot of places, though we didn't feel rushed. They took us to places we had not been before and we were relaxed because they knew just the right place to go next.

4

How would you qualify the sports and leisure activities/equipment on board:
The kayak and paddleboards were great and got a lot of use. We did plenty of snorkeling as well. I do wish we had a more powerful dingy to use for tubing and kneeboarding, though I understand a lot of boats were messed up after the storms.

5

How would you qualify the food and drinks:
We all agreed, especially my kids that it was the best week of eating and drinking we have ever had.

5

How would you qualify the entire experience of your trip:
We loved it. The other family, the Erb's said that was the most relaxing week they ever had.
