KAMANA SAILING EXPEDITIONS
Enrico Tettamanti, Captain
I was born in 1975 in the resoundingly beautiful Lake Garda region of Italy. From a young age I dreamed of traveling to the most remote and wild places on the planet and, thanks to my parents' enthusiasm, I've been sailing in the Mediterranean since I was a boy.
In 1995 I experienced my first Atlantic passage, which deeply marked my future and made sailing my core passion and occupation. In 1997/98 I worked in Venezuela on 'The Floating Village', which is the first community of i's kind in the world, built entirely on boats. This was a very important experience, and taught me the fundamentals of niche tourism. Since that time, I've been dedicated to organizing cruises, crossings and expeditions all over the world, with particular attention to the most unexplored places on Earth.
In 2000 I started building the first generation Kamana; a 53' yacht in aluminium, and I have been sailing her since the launch in 2002. I have had the joy of visiting many beautiful regions and have shared many amazing experiences with the various crews who have joined me around the world. We have reached remote destinations, outside of conventional routes, with great success.
I have more than 100,000 miles of ocean-sailing experience under my belt and numerous Atlantic and Pacific passages. I doubled Cape Horn seven times and sailed to the Antarctic. I love mountain climbing, free-ride skiing and paragliding along with any other means of moving by the currents of the air! In 2011, thanks to the cooperation of my friends and associates, I was given the chance to manifest this incredible project - The Kamana Sailing Expedition.
Giulia Azzalli, Chef
Thanks to the stories of my father, a great and wise traveler, I have always dreamed of white beaches, mountains and the colours and perfumes of far-away places and cultures. Sailing is the best way to pursue these dreams. A voyage without a fixed point of arrival in which to discover and touch the lives of the people we visit on the way.
On the boat, my duty is to delight palates of our guests. The food I prepare is based on Mediterranean Cuisine with local influences and ingredients of the area we are currently in.
I embrace the philosophy of Kamana Sailing Expedition to the fullest: From white beaches to majestic icebergs led by one scope: going where others don't and living this experience with the different crews and guests on board.
My big passion is photography. I am always on the lookout for scenes that capture - in some way - the magic of the last unexplored places of our great blue planet.
Luca Nover, Mate
Luca started sailing at the tender age of 7 racing on Optimists and Lasers on the Dolomite Lakes. Whilst studying for his Sociology degree he worked for various sailing schools on Lake Garda teaching both sailing and windsurfing. He then decided to truly follow his passion and set sail for the oceans. After his first crossing on a 30ft boat he worked in the charter industry on different boats including a Swan 82, a Wally 60, a Grand Soleil 62 and on boats specifically designed for disabled passengers.
Luca describes himself as a nature lover full of energy with a big smile! He speaks fluent Italian, English, German and Spanish. When he's not sailing, he loves hiking, swimming, snorkelling, wake boarding and anything outdoors and active... But sometimes he also loves nothing more than relaxing with a book or enjoying a good chat with friends and a good glass of wine.
