Captain Name: | Chris Bennett |
Nationality : | US/UK |
Number of Crew: | *2-3 |
Chris and Julie Bennett have been a team, on land and on the water, for more than 30 years. Over the last 15 years they have completed close to 400 charters, first on their 51' monohull called Blu Moon, and now on their 65' Privilege catamaran, Felicia, sailing throughout the Caribbean from Puerto Rico, to the US and British Virgin Islands, and as far south as the Grenadines and the Tobago Cays . Their love of sailing, discovering fantastic water venues and meeting interesting people from all over the world has hooked them to this lifestyle. Chris and Julie met in Kansas City, where Chris was starting a career in mechanical engineering and Julie was attending college, pursuing an art degree. It was there that Chris and Julie became certified Open Water SCUBA divers.
Captain Chris was born in London, England where he went to the London Institute of Technology for mechanical engineering. Growing up, he learned wood working and found his love of the water. He began his sailing life on the local waters of the English Channel. Following a move to the United States, Chris became the district sales manager for an east coast engineering company and pursued a successful career for 15 years. His love of sailing brought him back to the water in 1998, where he and Julie began chartering, starting the next adventure in their lives together. Chris's mechanical skills compliment his expert seamanship, and ensure that the guests are in good hands on board Felicia. He loves sailing, teaching guests the basics of helmsmanship, and guiding guests on interesting snorkel trips. He also loves to find those out-of-the-way spots where his guests can explore quiet anchorages or hike a deserted beach, or just sit back aboard Felicia with one of his specialty Captain's Cocktails in hand!
Chef and first mate Julie was raised and educated a half a world away from Chris, in Kansas, where she grew up enjoying riding horses and raising dogs. She always had a love of art, and following high school pursued a Bachelor's degree of Fine Arts, specializing in pottery and sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute. Following college, she moved into the business world and obtained her Masters in Human Resources degree, where she became the Director of Human Resources in a Kansas-based diagnostics laboratory. Julie's culinary talents are proudly home schooled....she gives credit to her mother who inspired her to cook from a young age, as well as her world travels. She's taken inspiration from culinary genres from all over the US to exotic venues around the world, inspiring Caribbean influenced dishes as well as good old-fashioned heart-of-America cooking. Julie can tailor your menu to include special dietary needs such as low-fat, vegetarian, or low-carb food plans. She enjoys ensuring people get what they need on their vacation, be it quiet time to unwind with a tropical cocktail in hand, listening to a great selection of music, snorkeling and other water sports.....or a little bit of each!
Felicia is cared for and maintained to keep her in the best possible condition for your stay on board. Chris and Julie's wealth of knowledge of the waters of the the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean, combined with their knowledge of sailing and seamanship, their love of what's above and below the water....and having fun with new people, blend to make your vacation on Island Time one not to be soon forgotten!
For a good time....call Felicia!
