MEET YOUR CREW:
CAPTAIN: Gerrie Schoeman
CHEF/FIRST MATE: Hettie Schoeman
Experienced in the hospitality industry for more than 20 years, Gerrie and Hettie Schoeman are your captain and first mate…or chef and first mate depending on the hat they happen to be wearing at the time. This married couple has worked together for years and their view on life is all about creating memories – ensuring yours is the best ever, in turn making theirs pretty special too.
As experienced sailors, resort managers, qualified tour guides, safari operators and seasoned travelers, they are the perfect team to take care of you on your sailing charter.
With a witty sense of humor, genuine care for the environment and great communication and people skills, they embrace an infectious love of life.
Their love for sailing started in 2010 when they moved to Cape Town, where they sailed the west coast of Southern Africa and earned their sailing certifications. In 2014 Gerrie attempted the Cape to Rio regatta as a member of a crew of 4 but had to return to Cape Town after 5 days, having suffered damages to their boat when hit by a severe cyclone. From Cape Town they moved to the Eastern Caribbean, offering all-inclusive catamaran charters. It was in these tropical waters that Hettie developed an enthusiasm for snorkeling and underwater photography.
They too owned and operated Destination Africa, a 4x4 self-drive safari company, operating in 8 different Southern African countries. During this time, they built and managed Kabula Lodge, a popular safari and tiger fishing spot on the Zambezi River in Zambia.
Not afraid of new challenges, they also founded The Ark, an events venue, on the scenic Route 62 in the Southern Cape, South Africa. The Ark included a 40-seat restaurant, sports bar, curio shop and take-away kiosk, as well as a winery and theatre and a guest house accommodating the visitors to this venue.
In 2018 they were offered the opportunity to manage Calala, a private island and 5-star exclusive all-inclusive establishment in the Nicaribbean (Caribbean off the coast of Nicaragua), hosting a maximum of 8 guests and managing 26 wonderful staff members.
After these amazing experiences, Gerrie & Hettie can’t wait to welcome you onboard S/V Beyond Stardust and share all they have to offer in the amazingly beautiful Virgin Islands.

Inclusions and exclusion are not standardized across the different yachts, with each offering slightly different terms. Please contact us for a proposal that details the yacht’s availability, individual pricing based on the number of guests in your party and particular dates, as well as the list of the inclusions and exclusions for that particular yacht.
This yacht offers an “All Inclusive” Rate:
Typically this includes all your breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks. Standard Ship's Bar which includes your alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. This Yacht offers a “Plus Expenses” Rate:
Included are the Yacht and its onboard equipment as well as the Captain, Chef and Crew’s services.
Excluded are food and beverages, fuel for the yacht and its tender, any dockage, airport transfers costs, onshore excursions and tours, as well as any cruising permits, licenses and other charter related expenses. Crew gratuity, although optional is customary at 15% - 20% of the charter rate for the Caribbean and 10% - 15% for the Mediterranean.
Advanced Provisioning Allowance:
For "Plus Expenses" charters, yachts request an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is generally estimated at 20% - 25% of the base charter fee for sailing yachts (catamarans and monohulls) and at 30%-35% for motor yachts. The APA essentially creates a bank account for the Captain to purchase provisions, fuel, dockage, food, beverages, bar, and other consumables on the charterer's behalf. The Captain will keep all receipts and manage a running balance of the account, so that expenditures can be checked at any time. Any amount not used will be refunded at the end of the charter. If during the charter the costs have exceeded the collected APA, then additional funds will be required for the outstanding bills. All purchases are transparent and nothing is marked up. The APA is used purely for the charterer's provisions and charter-related expenses.
