Ritzy Charters Attends Acclaimed Greece EMMYS Charter Show

The picturesque port of Poros was the setting for the recent 19th East Mediterranean Multihull & Yacht Charter Show which took place May 4-6 with Ritzy Charters brokers in attendance. The show was sponsored by the Hellenic Republic Region of Attica and the Greek National Tourism Organisation.

Attendance was very strong, with 100 yachts on display, dominated by 45 catamarans: 39 sail and 6 power cats to view on the docks. There were also 32 motor yachts, all available for charter in Greece.

The show drew over 200 charter brokers from around the world who came for the opportunity to board and inspect each yacht and interact with the crew. It is the knowledge acquired about the charter experience offered by each yacht that allows brokers to make knowledgeable recommendations to clients.

The cuisine offered on a charter yacht is a very important element of the charter experience and the chefs are eager to show off their skills by competing in the culinary competition. This year’s theme was Greek Fusion, with competition divided into two categories:

  • The Emerald category for yachts priced up to €35,000 per week (plus expenses).

  • The Diamond category for those priced €35,000 per week (plus expenses) and above.

Here are the winners of each category:

DIAMOND

  • 1st place: Chef Savvas Lichanidis on board ABOVE & BEYOND sailing catamaran Sunreef 80.

  • 2nd place: Chef Dimitris Abrazis on board MYTHOS G motoryacht Posillipo 85.

  • 3rd place: Chef Maria Kokkou on board NAMASTE SAMANA sailing catamaran Fountaine Pajot 59.

Our brokers were invited to enjoy lunch or dinner hosted by attending yachts, to experience for themselves the high level of cuisine offered onboard these amazing yachts.

The show also invited yacht crews to compete in the areas of tablescaping, and designer water, the latter sponsored by the Charter Yacht Brokers Association who initiated this competition at the Caribbean shows to highlight the benefits of reducing single use plastics.

Meeting and furthering relationships with the yacht agents who manage these yachts is another important aspect of the show. To facilitate interaction, the show included a variety of networking events each evening including the opening party at the Golden View Hotel, a dock “yacht hop” aboard two 80 ft Sunreef catamarans, a variety of parties hosted by individual yachts, and the final awards ceremony at the Syggrou Amphitheater.

Following the close of the show, brokers were invited to participate in a familiarization sailing trip to several Saronic islands including Agistri, the tiny island of Moni, and the”pistachio” island of Aegina, to learn about this very appealing region of Greece.
