2023 Mediterranean Yacht Show: Embracing Environmental Consciousness

The ancient port city of Nafplion, Greece was once again the setting for the MEDYS 2023, which brought together industry professionals and yachts available for charter in Greece. Ritzy Charters was in attendance, represented by German Liubitch, Mariela Pesci, and Mike Piper. This, the world's largest crewed charter yacht show, attracted 92 yachts and 750 brokers and trade visitors from around the globe.
In addition to inspecting yachts and meeting with the yacht crew and manager, the show included a range of events for industry networking as well as seminars and panel discussions. This year the focus was on the importance of ocean conservation, emphasizing the shared responsibility of yacht owners, builders, and operators in preserving the marine environment. Attendees received a glimpse of the future of yachting, where innovative technologies and eco-friendly solutions combine to create both luxurious and environmentally conscious experiences.

A highlight of the MEDYS was the Chefs’ Competition (check out last year’s winners here!), which provides an opportunity for yacht chefs to showcase their skills and creativity. Continuing with the eco-friendly trend, this year’s theme was “Zero Waste From the Greek Seas”. Participants were asked to prepare a dish that represents the essence of Greece by using ingredients from the Greek seas without producing any waste. This year’s panel of judges included two Michelin Star chefs.
Under the same theme, the Tablescaping Competition invited the yacht steward/stewardess to create the perfect table setting to complement the chefs’ preparations.
